Community Service - Eastwood School Eastwood School is in need of volunteers to help with childcare from 6:00-7:30pm on four separate dates: October 9, October 16, October 23 and October 30. Each evening will need four student volunteers. If you would like to help and are sure you can honor the commitment, please sign up in the office.
Positive School Culture If you are interested in being part of the Positive School Culture team and do fun and creative things to make our high school a great place to spend your day, our meetings this month are October 8th and 22nd at 3:30 in Room 111.
Attention Winter Sports Athletes! Sign ups for basketball, wrestling, competitive cheer, bowling and boys swimming will be right after school on Monday, October 22nd in the following rooms: Swimming @ pool...... Comp. Cheer in the cafeteria...... Wrestling in the wrestling room...... Bowling in the annex...... Girls Basketball in Coach Hatt's classroom...... Boys Basketball in high school gym. If you're planning on playing any of these sports, please plan on attending.
National Honor Society Just a reminder that NHS applications are due by 3:30 on Monday. The applications should have been mailed home to you around 3 weeks ago. If you no longer have it or think you did not receive it, please see Mrs. Beebe or Ms. Velie.
Community Service - Camp Amigo Camp Amigo is looking for students to help split and stack firewood at the campground on Saturday, October 27 from 9am-3pm. Please bring a sack lunch. If you would like to help, please sign up in the office, and/or email Dave Taylor at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Sports News **The j.v. football team lost to Edwardsburg 14-46. **The varsity girls swim/dive team defeated Kalamazoo Central 106-80. It was a great win for Senior Night. The medley relay of Tessa Roehrig, Katie Strawser, Laci Gottschalk and Abby Compton took first place. Katie Strawser took first in the 200 free. Tessa Roehrig took first in the 200 IM. Divers Laci Gottschalk, Haley Mettler and Olivia Robertson took first, second, and third to help solidify an early lead in the score. Brittany Miller, Abby Compton, and Aylin Alfaro took first, second, and 4th in the 100 fly. Laci Gottschalk took first in the 100 freestyle. Tessa Roehrig took first in the 100 backstroke. Katie Strawser and Abby Compton finished first and third in the 100 breaststroke and then hopped into the 4x100 relay with Tessa Roehrig and Laci Gottschalk to round out the night with a final win. **The varsity boys soccer team lost to Mattawan 0-3 in District play last night. Quote from Coach Olivares; "First half was a very even game, but the win went to the team that made the least amount of mistakes. I am proud of my team for fighting until the last second, especially the seniors. "I would like to thank all of the fans, parents, coaches, school administrators and media for their continued support." .......................... Volunteer Opportunity at Glen Oaks Community College Students are needed to help volunteer at GOCC's “Haunted Trails” event! Students would be dressing in their scariest costumes and makeup and scaring people as they walk the trails. This event is happening on Tuesday, October 30 from 7-9pm and October 31 from 6-9pm. SAT Fee Waivers The guidance office has a limited amount of fee waivers for kids who want to retake the SAT in December. If you are on free/reduced lunch and would like to retake the SAT on December 1st for a better score, email Mrs. Patrick firstname.lastname@example.org by November 1st.
SAT Test The next make up SAT date is December 1st. Registration deadline is November 2nd. If you want to improve your score then you can register through your college board account. The next testing date is in March.
Attention all Students! POSTER CONTEST. Help the St. Joseph County Substance Abuse Task Force spread the awareness of the dangers of prescription pain medications and heroin in our county by designing a poster.
